The International School of Macao recently welcomed guest speaker and holocaust survivor Werner Reich, who spoke to high school students, teachers and parents about his experiences in Nazi concentration camps during World War II.
Mr. Reich and his family lived in Berlin, Germany when the Nazi’s came into power in 1933. The family moved to Yugoslavia, which was later occupied by the Nazis in 1941. Two years later, Mr. Reich was arrested by the Gestapo and spent time in four different concentration camps across Europe.
Mr Reich’s riveting account of how he survived those dark years and life after the World War was both haunting and inspiring and made for a very memorable talk.
