Running for A Worthy Cause

The Macau community once again showed its unwavering support for the Run of Hope on Sunday, November 5th with more than 250 people participating in the annual charity fundraiser held at the Four Seasons Macao Hotel.

The Run of Hope consists of a 3 km Family Walk and 5.6 km Run, followed by a delicious brunch at Splash Restaurant. Congratulations to TIS teachers Nick Chignall and Caitlin Bass who took home first place in the men’s and women’s 5.6 km run! Proceeds raised from the event will be donated to the Kiang Wu Hospital Cancer Department and the China Evangelize Fellowship Orphanage in Macau.

The Run of Hope, originally known as the Terry Fox Run, is the corporate community program of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts that was inspired by Terry Fox, a courageous young man with bone cancer who ran across Canada in 1980 to raise funds for cancer. The event is organized by the Four Seasons Hotel Macao in partnership with CanCham Macao and The International School of Macao.

CanCham Macao Raises Profile at MIF

The Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF) held at the Venetian Hotel from Oct 19-21 was a huge success, with hundreds of businesses participating in the annual event.

MIF is Macao’s largest international trade and economic event. It promotes interactive trade and investment activities, fosters the integration of funds, resources, markets and technologies, and encourages entrepreneurial co-operation in numerous areas, through the display of trade and investment opportunities, forums and conferences, business matching and buyers meetings.

Having a booth at the fair allowed CanCham Macao to build awareness of the chamber, showcase what the chamber has to offer corporate and individual members, and network with other chambers and businesses in Macao.

The Fintech Revolution

Thirty people attended this morning’s breakfast seminar at the Sofitel Macau, co-hosted by CanCham Macao and the France Macau Business Association. Guest speaker Andrew Work gave an informative presentation on the Fintech industry and its growing influence on the financial services sector. Andrew has served on the Board of Directors at CanCham Macao for a number of years and we are grateful that he was able to come to Macau and provide some valuable insight into the latest trends in financial technology.

Cocktails For A Cause Raises the Bar

CanCham Macao President Howard Stribbell showed off his bartending skills at Cocktails For A Cause on Sat, Sept 26 at the Four Seasons Hotel. He was one of five Macau personalities who participated in the bartending competition to raise funds for the Run of Hope charities. Howard’s custom drink, the “Pisco Sour” was quite popular among those who attended, netting MOP 4,000!

The annual Run of Hope will take place on Sunday, November 5 at the Four Seasons Hotel.
